  Hospice of Palm Beach County Volunteers Honored At Annual Luncheon Bookmark and Share

On Saturday, February 20, 2010, Hospice of Palm Beach County held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. The event, which had couples dancing to their favorite 50’s hits, honored the work that more than 580 dedicated volunteers have done for the organization for many years.

"I am proud to share that in 2009 we had more than 54,000 hours donated by our volunteers. There were 7,000 patient visits made and countless other duties performed by volunteers ranging from ages 14 to 94," said Dave Fielding, President and CEO of Hospice of Palm Beach County.

The highlight of the luncheon was the honoring of volunteers who have dedicated themselves to the organization for more than 15 years. Honorees who have volunteered for 15-19 years include: Mary Behr, Helen Whitley, Gertrude Battle, Bertha Greenwald, Joan Makransky, Alberto Stable-Perez, Jackie Cummings, Monica Moss, Diane Steiner, Judy Grabel, Andy Kostick, Jack Kovner, Mary Ann Taranto, Frances Rosi and Dorothy Deutsch. Volunteers who have dedicated more than 20 years include: Ed Bergman, Joyce Garberoglio and Jesselyn Huey. Those who have volunteered more than 25 years include: Marilyn Marcus, Margaret Payne and Sarita Armstrong.

Hospice of Palm Beach County invites the community to learn about the volunteer opportunities they have for all ages including: administrative duties, Resale Shop attendants, and patient visitors, as well as a variety of other duties. In addition, the organization has a professional volunteer program available for professionals in the community who are able to donate their services such as: massage therapists, lawyers, accountants, and numerous other fields.
