A Loved Soul in the Community Continues to Give Back Even After He is Gone Bookmark and Share

Bruce Smith was cherished in the Palm Beach County community. For more than 11 years, he worked at various restaurants in the Villages community and grew to be loved by many. Upon his passing this year, his friends and co-workers knew they wanted to do something to help his legacy carry on. A fundraiser for Hospice of Palm Beach County was what they chose.

“Bruce received incredible care from Hospice of Palm Beach County during his final days,” said Penny Schlosser, owner of John Bull English Pub, Bruce’s last place of employment as General Manager. “He was comfortable, and surrounded by friends and family. We know he appreciated the care that hospice took of him and would have wanted to repay his gratitude.”

The fundraiser was held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at John Bull English Pub in West Palm Beach and brought out hundreds of Bruce’s closest friends for cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres. “We asked for a small donation at the door,” said Penny. “We couldn’t believe the outpouring of support everyone was willing to give. We are proud to donate almost $4,000 to Hospice of Palm Beach County. We know this money will help others receive the care that is crucial during the final stages of life.”
