Palm Beach Harley Owners Group Chili Cook Off and Motorcycle Raffle
April 20, 2008
John Prince Park, Lake Worth

For the 7th year, the Palm Beach Harley Owners Group hosted a chili cook-off and conducted a raffle to win a 2008 Harley Fatboy Motorcycle to benefit Hospice of Palm Beach County’s children’s programs. Nearly $40,000 was raised at this year’s event at John Prince Park putting the total close to $300,000 raised in the past seven years.

Chet and Donna Karnas of Royal Palm Beach had the wining ticket for the Harley Fatboy. “We purchased the ticket at the South Florida Fair Bike Night because of the wonderful job Hospice of Palm Beach County did in caring for my mother who passed away in 2002 of Lymphoma. The care shown by the doctor and nurse in making my mother comfortable at home before she passed on and the relief that they gave to us – the caregivers – was outstanding. We called and they were always available day or night, “ said Donna Karnas.

The chili cook-off, live music, silent auction, and children’s activities entertained the more than 3,000 people attending the event.

The winners of the Chili Cook-Off were:

1st place - Corbett Chili High Test
2nd place - Pepper Pirates
3rd place - Corbett Chili Regular
4th place - Ja-Makinmee-Jerk Chili
5th place - Weekend at Bernie’s Chili.
